Chief Executive Officer
Gary Mitchell is the award winning founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Divisions Maintenance Group. A past Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner, Gary’s company began with a complaint. He overheard a store manager lamenting the difficulty in managing maintenance vendors. Nearly 20 years later, Divisions Maintenance Group is providing integrated maintenance services to commercial properties across the country, always delivering on the company’s mission: To produce uninterrupted peace of mind. The business that began in the basement of his mother’s home has become a $250,000,000 company that employs more than 300 people in 43 offices across the United States.
Under Gary’s leadership, Divisions developed an innovative digital platform to streamline service delivery, drive up quality and drive out cost variation across large real estate portfolios. This system is fueled by the input of a vast network of quality service professionals, local Divisions representatives across the nation, and trained national account professionals at headquarters in Newport, KY.
Gary is dedicated to a culture-driven environment; the work is fast paced, high energy, and hard core. In return, employees are given quality health care, fitness incentives, a weekly free lunch, paid parking, and contests with valuable prizes to incentivize employees to drive results. Divisions pays employees to work in their communities for causes they choose to champion. Each team member is included in a quarterly feedback process that allows Gary to listen to their ideas and issues. The result: Divisions has been named a Top Workplace in Cincinnati five years in a row.
Divisions is also a repeat Fast 55 and Inc. 5000 Award winner, experiencing explosive growth; more than 100 new employees, a 50% increase in sales volume and 38% increase in contracts in the last year alone.
In the community, Gary seeks ways to deliver Divisions’ mission by intersecting with people whose peace of mind has been interrupted by the circumstances of life. Dubbed the “Peace of Mind Mission,” this effort provides relief efforts for families dealing with childhood disease, natural disasters, and more.
In addition to his broad experience in facilities maintenance and management, Gary specializes in new business development, budgeting, and asset management. Gary lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Amy and four sons. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing and hunting in his spare time.
